Why
Team chat is great for the moment. But every decision, every approval, every clarification disappears into the archive — and the new teammate inheriting an account next year has no way to find the conversation where you agreed to a custom term. Messages link conversations to records; the next person inheriting the account can read every relevant message, in order, on the record page.

Reply in a thread to keep the main channel clean. Threads are searchable, linkable, and carry the same record links as the parent message.
Drop a record reference (#deal-1428, @customer-acme) into any message. The message becomes findable from the record forever, without the original channel.
Full-text search across channels, DMs, and threads. Filter by author, channel, date range, or linked record.
Upload images, PDFs, and floor plans. Files attach to the record they were shared about — the new agent finds them without rummaging.
Mentions, replies, and keyword alerts. Snooze channels you don't need right now; @mentions still reach you.
